Oxford United footballers visit Burford Primary's new 'Nest'

Children at Burford Primary School were excited to welcome Oxford United footballers on Friday 16th May to officially open a new building named the ‘Burford Best Nest’.
Visiting the school were Oxford United Captain Elliot Moore, Club Ambassador and Engagement Officer, Peter Rhoades-Brown, and two players from Oxford United’s scholarship scheme - Aaron Lacey, Defender/ Centre-Back and Harrison Mole, Midfielder. Peter (nicknamed ‘Rosie’) has been part of Oxford United for the last 40 years, after signing as a player from Chelsea in January 1984.
The nest building was generously funded by the Burford School Foundation Trust and is a much-needed extra space to be used for small groups of children who will benefit from a smaller adult/children ratio. The school currently run small nurture groups, for example Elsa (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) and for children who are from Armed forces families.
Headteacher Rachel Veeder said:
‘Many of our children are Oxford United supporters and they loved getting the players signatures! The afternoon started off with an assembly given by Rosie and the players before the official opening which was well supported by our parents, grandparents & relations. We would like to thank them all for their time and enthusiasm they gave to our school.’
