ODST schools nominated for Oxford Climate Awards

Two ODST schools have been recognised in the Oxford Climate Awards for their work on sustainability.

John Henry Newman Academy was nominated as Sustainable Primary School of the Year, for embedding climate education within the curriculum, and initiatives such as forest school, writing to the local MP, and vegetable growing.

St Frideswide CE Primary staff member, Andrew Verschoyle, was recognised in the Green Transport category, for running the school's bike library and bike bus. The bike library has been a huge success, allowing up to 50 children to borrow bikes as they grow, encouraging them to cycle to school and teaching them how to maintain the bikes. The school's bike bus further enables children to have the independence of cycling to school, in a safe environment.
