RAF experience day for three ODST schools

Three ODST schools took part in a Military Day with personnel from RAF Brize Norton, learning about about RAF life and marking Armed Forces week.
Children from St Christopher’s CE Primary in Langford, Burford Primary, and St Peter's CE Primary in Alvescot came together for a day of activities and challenges, and to get an insight into Armed Forces life. They took part in obstacle courses, tried on uniforms and explored a fire and rescue vehicle.
Rachel Veeder, Executive Headteacher of St Christopher's and Burford Primary schools, said:
“It’s been an amazing day today bringing three schools together to celebrate our Armed Forces and all things military. After we received a grant to connect the three schools to collaborate on our military connections, we decided to host a whole school event, which brought them together. The staff from all the schools have done a fantastic job helping make the day a success alongside the RAF personnel and the children have had an amazing day.”
RAF Flight Lieutenant Turner, who organised the day, said:
“Having the opportunity to engage with our local schools and inspire the children is something which brings us closer to our community. Days like today help improve everyone’s understanding of what life in the RAF is all about. Many local children are part of service families, and today helped bridge the gap between our military world and the civilian community around us.”
